EMDR is a way of processing trauma that has become trapped and is re-looping in our mind and body over and over again as a broken record would. This trapped information may increase anxiety and fear associated with it causing us to replay the information of the trauma or bad event in the form of flashbacks, bad dreams or flash forwards, which increases the risk of Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
EMDR clears away the clutter to allow the experience to be processed safely and emphatically. This process is very mechanical and can allow the individual to be able to process their experiences in a structured and safe way. As an accredited EMDR therapist, I can facilitate this without interpretation or judgement.
